Cascadian psychedelia par excellence from one of Seattle’s most interesting groups, Every Stone is Green takes Mt Fog’s haunted forest pop to a new level of whimsical weirdness. This is magical stuff, a shimmering confluence of avant-garde arrangements, spectral synth grooves, and gothic spectacle, meticulously arranged for maximum drama delivered with a feather-light touch. Fronted by the classically trained Carolyn B., whose joyously operatic, Kate Bush-esque yips, trills, and squeals are a central element, the trio’s textural songs are almost post-punk in their minimalism, a technicolor web of electronic sound intricately woven out of damp leaves, swirls of mist, and stardust.
Every Stone is Green is out March 13th. Pre-order it.
